SEWARD PARK ANCHOR
This design-build project was quite special as the street corner of the finished garden serves as a meeting point for many people in the community, coming and going from school, church, work and the daily dog walk. We’ve never had so many passerby’s bend our ears, it’s a miracle we finished! The walkable location and intersection of activity truly is a community anchor; we were very happy to provide something of value to everyone.
This young family of busy professionals asked for a low maintenance, drought resistant yard with high aesthetic value and a small sampling of edibles. We integrated a raingarden for the aesthetic value and to cover much of the project cost. The entire roof (2001sf) is redirected to and infiltrates within the raingarden. One of the downspouts connects to the above grade rock creek to give motion within the yard. We look forward to seeing a ubiquitous carpet of ground cover and 70-80% bed coverage in the next few years.
